Bora Bora Experience (Rohivai Tours) · Boat pickup from your hotel

The lagoon without the driving

A six-hour boat safari with Bora Bora Experience (Rohivai Tours): three snorkel stops for stingrays, blacktip reef sharks and coral, then a Polynesian picnic on a motu. Pick it if part of your group would rather not drive a jet ski.

Full-Day Lagoon Safari & Lunch on a Motu

About this experience

There is no jet ski on this tour. That is the point. A safari boat picks you up, from your own hotel if it has safe sea access, and spends the day on the lagoon. The first stop is a marine sanctuary where you swim with stingrays and blacktip reef sharks. A second stop may have manta rays (the listing says they are not guaranteed). Then comes a coral garden, and lunch is a Polynesian-style picnic on a small motu under the coconut palms.

The boat pickup is a real plus if you stay at a motu resort. The listing lists 18 pickup points, from the big resorts to Matira Beach. The boat can come to your jetty if there is enough depth, a sandy bottom and no coral, and the jetty is big enough. If not, the crew meets you at a nearby point. Ask when you book.

Drinks are included: water, fruit juices and soft drinks, plus a towel and snorkel gear (give your fin size). The listing does not allow feeding the animals. It needs good weather and a minimum number of guests: if either fails, you get another date or a full refund. You cannot get a refund once the tour has started. The listing says the tour is not suitable for pregnant women or wheelchair users.

Tips before you book

  • Pack what the listing asks for: sunscreen, beachwear, water shoes and a camera.
  • Give your fin size when you book, so the right fins are on the boat.
  • Ask whether the boat can reach your jetty. If not, find out the nearby meeting point the day before.
  • Travelling between July and November? Read about the humpback whale season before you go.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a jet ski on this tour?

No. It is a boat safari. If you want to drive, look at the jet ski and shark safari, which pairs the two.

Will we see manta rays?

Maybe. The listing says the second stop may have mantas and that they are not guaranteed. Stingrays and blacktip reef sharks are at the first stop.

Can the boat pick me up at my motu hotel?

Often, yes. The boat comes to your accommodation if there is safe sea access and a jetty big enough for it. If not, you meet at a nearby point.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The tour needs good weather. If it is cancelled for weather, you get another date or a full refund.
